Commercial Recycling, have recently invested more than £140,000 into the low cost food waste recycling service it provides to businesses throughout Dorset, Somerset and West Hampshire.
The majority of the company’s recent investment has been in the purchase of a state-of-the-art, sealed body food waste collection vehicle. The 26-tonne Scania vehicle will join the large modern fleet of purpose built waste recovery lorries that Commercial Recycling already operate.
In addition to fulfilling the ever-increasing demand for food waste recycling, the lorry will help to reduce the carbon emissions of Commercial Recycling because it is a Euro 6, class leader in low emissions and fuel consumption.
Other key items resulting from the recent investment include; specialist staff training, production of food waste recycling awareness materials and the implementation of improved food waste sacks and external waste containers.
Alan Ridout, Fleet Operations Manager, Commercial Recycling said “We are delighted to be able to make such a significant purchase. The demand for food waste recycling is increasing day by day because large numbers of businesses are now working towards a ‘Zero Waste to Landfill’ position. In the past this has been far harder to achieve because of the previous high costs of recovering and recycling food waste.”
Alan went on to say “Plans are already in place for the next lorry because we expect the demand to increase even further as the government begins the introduction of stronger measures designed to increase food waste recycling within the commercial sector.”
