Paint is a hazardous waste and therefore cannot be disposed of within any general waste streams.

Businesses or individuals requiring a local paint disposal point within the Bournemouth and Poole area can use Canford Recycling Centre, which is a fully licensed site for the disposal of paint in cans.

Correctly disposing of paint in cans

To ensure paint is disposed of in a compliant manner it must be segregated from general waste and processed at a licensed facility such as Canford Recycling Centre.

At Canford Recycling Centre the disposal of paint in cans couldn’t be easier, customers just need to follow the simple steps detailed below:

  1. Contact the hazardous waste team to book a convenient tipping slot (details below)
  2. Pull on to the weighbridge
  3. Inform the weighbridge operator of the number of waste paint cans that need to be disposed of
  4. Drive (as directed) to the specialist tipping point and unload the waste paint cans
  5. Exit the site

Cost of paint can disposal

At Commercial Recycling paint can disposal is charged on a price per can basis. However, if larger quantities of paint requiring disposing of we can provide disposal rates for filled 205L drums and 1000L IBC containers.
