Paint is a hazardous waste and therefore cannot be disposed of within any general waste streams.
Businesses or individuals requiring a local paint disposal point within the Bournemouth and Poole area can use Canford Recycling Centre, which is a fully licensed site for the disposal of paint in cans.
Correctly disposing of paint in cans
To ensure paint is disposed of in a compliant manner it must be segregated from general waste and processed at a licensed facility such as Canford Recycling Centre.
At Canford Recycling Centre the disposal of paint in cans couldn’t be easier, customers just need to follow the simple steps detailed below:
- Contact the hazardous waste team to book a convenient tipping slot (details below)
- Pull on to the weighbridge
- Inform the weighbridge operator of the number of waste paint cans that need to be disposed of
- Drive (as directed) to the specialist tipping point and unload the waste paint cans
- Exit the site
Cost of paint can disposal
At Commercial Recycling paint can disposal is charged on a price per can basis. However, if larger quantities of paint requiring disposing of we can provide disposal rates for filled 205L drums and 1000L IBC containers.
