Complete fly tip clearance services

The lockdown imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic has had effects on almost every industry. With fewer people being able to work and many public services being cut, people are looking for different solutions to everyday problems. Unfortunately, sometimes these solutions are negative, such as in the case of fly tipping of waste.

The Guardian has reported a staggering 80% increase on average of fly tipping cases across the country in wake of the coronavirus lockdown.

The initial closure of local tips (during stage 4 of the UK’s response to coronavirus), reduced waste collection services, and increase in people completing DIY projects at home have led to a pronounced increase in fly tipping as individuals and businesses become desperate to get rid of their waste. It’s unfortunately no longer uncommon to see unwanted furniture, construction waste or abandoned bin bags in public areas whilst out enjoying your daily exercise.

Fly tip removals

If a fly tip is discovered on public land, the local council should remove it (although this may take some time due to service availability). Unfortunately, if a fly tip is found on private land it becomes the responsibility of the land owner to have it removed by a licenced waste carrier.

Commercial Recycling, along with our long-established waste collection partner Avon Material Supplies, offer an efficient, affordable fly tip clearance service across Dorset and Hampshire. We will collect the fly tipped waste from your premises and ensure that where possible, the majority of the recovered waste is recycled at our licenced waste disposal site near Wimborne.

Fly tip solutions we provide

The two options we offer for fly tip clearances enable us to clear between 0.5 – 16 tonnes of waste in a single trip. Each of the fly tip removal services detailed below are fully licensed, and completed using modern vehicles operated by skilled operatives who are equipped with the appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment).

  • Man and van – in one trip our man and van operators can transport up to 1 tonne of waste. With this fly tip collection method we are able to offer quick response times and our team will load the waste into the van for you.
  • Grab lorry – our fleet of grab lorries includes 4, 6 and 8 wheeler grabs that are able to carry up to 16 tonnes of waste. Each has a varying grab reach, making this suitable for large fly tip clearances where access may otherwise be challenging.

Commonly fly tipped wastes we collect

  • Bulky general waste
  • Mattresses
  • Fridges and freezers
  • Garage, office and house clearances
  • WEEE (waste electrical electronic equipment)
  • Tyres

  • Adhesives
  • Aerosols
  • Asbestos
  • Chemicals
  • Contaminated packaging

Reporting fly tipping

It’s important to remember that fly tipping is a criminal offence that you should report to your local council.

If the person committing the crime is caught, they will be prosecuted and fined up to £20,000. They could even face a prison sentence.

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole council advise that if you see someone fly tipping to make a note of the following, and report it directly to them:

  • The day, date and time.
  • What you saw – who they were (if known), what they looked like, what vehicle was used (colour, make, licence plate number).
  • How much waste is there, what was tipped and where.

Report a fly tip to BCP.
